The particle で can express not only location but also means or method of an action.

Used to describe how something is done (e.g., by anime, by book, by app).

To ask about the method, use: どうやって~?

    Example

“As for N, doing V is (adjective)”

    Formation:

    Noun 1 + は + Noun 2 + が + Adjective

When using a verb as N2, add の after the dictionary form to nominalize it

    Example
    英語[えいご]は 文法[ぶんぽう]が 簡単[かんたん]です。 English grammar is easy.

タイ語[ご]は 文字[もじ]を 覚[おぼ]えるのが 難[むずか]しいです。 Memorizing Thai characters is a difficult part of learning Thai.

    ■ N1 は ~。でも、N2 は ~。(Comparison)

    Formation:
    Noun 1 + は + Sentence A。(でも、)Noun 2 + は + Sentence B。
    Key Point:

Used to express a comparison or contrast between two aspects of the same topic or between two different things.

The particle は highlights each item being compared.

Use でも at the start of the second sentence to emphasize the contrast.

When comparing parts of one topic (e.g., Japanese reading vs. speaking), use V-るのは or Nは for clarity.

    Example
ひらがなは 好[す]きです。カタカナは 苦手[にがて]です。 I like hiragana, but I am not good at katakana.

A polite request expression, more indirect than V-てください.

Used to ask someone to do something for you, in a respectful and gentle way.

Often used in formal or semi-formal situations, such as with co-workers or strangers.

    Example
この漢字[かんじ]の 読[よ]み方[かた]を 教[おし]えて もらえませんか? Will you teach me how to read this kanji character?
